Workshop: COMPREHENSIVE STROKE MANAGEMENT - Primary Prevention, Acute Management, Rehabilitation and Recurrence Prevention
Last update 04/01/2025 - 08:53
- Do you know how to recognize the first symptoms of stroke?
- What should you do if someone shows symptoms of a stroke?
- For those who have experienced a stroke, how can you prevent reoccurrence?
- How can rehabilitation exercises improve a patient's quality of life post-stroke?
Stroke is one of the leading causes of death and disability worldwide. Although it is commonly seen in older adults, stroke is trending towards affecting younger individuals more frequently than before.
Dr. Sabrina Stefanizzi, Department of Neurology, coordinator of the Prevention Center of Cardio-Vascular Disease at K体育 with over 20 years of experience in stroke prevention and treatment, notes that there are two main types of stroke: hemorrhagic, (ruptured artery), and ischemic (blocked artery). If stroke is not treated promptly, it can result in coma and, in extreme cases, death.
According to Dr. Nguyen Thi Dung, a specialist in the Department of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Medicine with 15 years of experience, stroke patients may face functional impairments and the risk of disability. Early intervention and rehabilitation exercises can help reduce complications related to disability and improve the quality of life for stroke patients.
